Hi

Hi, I am Rabbi Barry!

Most Rabbis are more about the religion rather than the Relationship. Lots of Rabbis will fit the couple into the, “Jewish Wedding Box”, while I want to focus on the couple and the belief system that makes YOUR relationship work.

A Little Fun With Rabbi Barry

I could tell you about my upbringing, I could tell you about my favorite foods and what I like to do when I am not officiating but, I think these reviews below might do a better job of explaining who I am!

Welcome to Weddings With Spirit!

For over twenty years, I have performed Jewish, interfaith, non-denominational, alternative, and LGBTQ wedding

ceremonies. Interfaith wedding ceremonies can be a very challenging process. Many of today’s interfaith couples desire to participate in a more spiritual rather than religious ceremony. I honor all faiths and all wedding traditions. Searching for a rabbi? How am I different than others? Most rabbis are more about the religion rather than the relationship and will fit the couple into the “Jewish Wedding Model.” I want to focus on the couple and the belief system that makes their relationship work.

Though I live in Southern California, I will travel to the geographic location you request to officiate your wedding ceremony.

Destination weddings are one of my specialities and I have officiated at weddings throughout the world. I’ve married couples in Mexico, Japan, Ecuador, Guatemala, Canada, Hawaii, New York, Louisiana, Michigan, Arizona, Illinois, Northern California and the bay area, Big Sur, on yachts and at coastal and mountain retreats. The counties and cities in my local southern California area include Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Diego and Riverside counties and countless venues in Encino, Studio City, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Marina Del Ray, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Camarillo, San Clemente, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Diego, Oceanside, La Jolla, Temecula, Palm Springs, and Rancho Mirage.

I have officiated at many theme weddings and I am always happy to help with creative suggestions that have been successful in the past.

With all that I have to offer couples, probably the most noted and written about of my attributes are that I am “warm, caring, funny, inclusive, accessible and professional.” I truly love what I do and it is evident in all my wedding ceremonies. And, no matter when I am asked which is my favorite or most important wedding, I will always answer, “The one I am working on right now!” Interfaith marriage, non‐denominational weddings, alternative weddings, LGBT weddings, wedding officiant, Rabbi Barry, Southern California wedding officiant.

What our couples are saying about Rabbi Barry

Hi Rabbi Barry,I just wanted to send you a quick note that the wedding ceremony was absolutely incredible. Literally every single person we spoke with RAVED about our rabbi.

You made our day the most special day we could have possibly imagined. One person even said to me “I need that Rabbi to be the one that officiates my Catholic son’s wedding.”

I cannot thank you enough for executing on our vision of inclusiveness and warmth.

Do you have a mailing address you can share with me so we can send something yourway?

Also, do you have the marriage license or should we have that? I know you told me but I was a bit preoccupied.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I don’t write reviews often, but this is one case when a review is absolutely warranted. Simply put, Rabbi Barry did a phenomenal job as the Officiant for the wedding of my wife and I on 09/03/2016.

Initially, both my wife and I were a little worried about the fact that we had family attending the ceremony who were from Jewish, Christian, and non-religious backgrounds. Rabbi Barry did a superb job working with us ahead of time to tailor the ceremony in a way that honored my wife’s Jewish traditions, clearly communicated the importance of those traditions in a way that gave them universal appeal to the non-Jewish guests and incorporated a tasteful touch of humor that kept everyone engaged throughout the ceremony.

My wife had multiple guests – from all religious backgrounds – approach us later in the evening to comment on how Rabbi Barry’s ceremony was actually the best wedding ceremony they had ever seen (and we couldn’t agree more).

Furthermore, Rabbi Barry has a talent for customizing Ketubahs. He encouraged us to help him craft a Ketubah that incorporated some personal touches into an already beautiful work of art. The result is something that will hang on our wall for the rest of our lives.

I can’t recommend Rabbi Barry highly enough – he is an incredibly talented Rabbi and Officiant who we hope to keep in contact with throughout our marriage.

My husband and I got married on April 18th and Rabbi Garry was our officiant and he was amazing. We saw his work at my, now, brother-in-law’s wedding a year ago and we loved him then.

He is to the point, no nonsense wonderful man with a lot of insight and a knack to make an audience laugh and be engaged in the ceremony. We got so many compliments after on how great and funny Rabbi Barry was and honestly, we are so grateful to him; he made our ceremony memorable. I laughed, I cried, and overall my husband and I are pleased with how our ceremony turned out. Hire Barry; you won’t be disappointed.

Rabbi Barry Tuchman made our wedding ceremony special, warm, and heartfelt. He made himself very available since the beginning of the process and was very responsive to our many questions and emails. He worked with us in creating a Ketubah that we loved, paying a lot of attention to small details and accommodating to our unique style. The ceremony was candid and very sweet. Would recommend J Thanks Barry!

Rabbi Barry did an amazing job on our interfaith wedding service. The way he conducted our ceremony made it feel very special to both us and the audience. Everybody gave me wonderful feedback on his service.

Rabbi Barry was amazing!! We wanted a Jewish wedding but don’t belong to a temple. We had read some positive reviews online and decided to reach out to Rabbi Barry. He was very responsive and called us right away after our first email. He was very reasonably priced and kind on the phone. We used Facetime to “meet” after we booked him. We discussed our ketubah and the type of ceremony we wanted. Most of the guests at our wedding were not Jewish so he made sure to put together a ceremony that would be multi-faith friendly and explanatory. We checked in a few times leading up to the wedding day. He moved down to San Clemente during our planning process and still made the drive all the way to Camarillo without adding a travel fee.

The ceremony went off without a hitch and was beautiful. Everyone loved is, and it was the one part of the wedding all of our guests raved about all night. Rabbi Barry made sure to follow up with us a week after the wedding to give us the relevant info about our marriage certificates. He was really an amazing person to work with, and he made our wedding ceremony perfect and complete, infusing the right amount of spirit and comedy.  Thank you Rabbi Barry!!!!
